Our Largest Machine – Sandretto Otto 380

We have recently taken delivery of a SANDRETTO Otto 380 Moulding Machine, continuing our long term replacement programme. This 380 tonne machine is our largest Machine, out of a total machine list of 18 machines. We shall continue to update our plant to further our work towards a more efficient use of energy, and at this time we have removed two older machines. This will give us the capacity to produce mouldings of up to about 1300 gms.

Green Business Award Winners

McLaren Plastics Limited has won the Green Business Award in the Midlothian and East Lothian Chamber of Commerce Business Awards 2011.  These awards are sponsored by Midlothian Council.

The award was made in recognition of McLaren Plastics Limited’s recycling policies.  The Company recycles the water generated from its air compression system into its closed water cooling system for the manufacturing process.  Containers that are used for some of the raw material that the Company uses are recycled by a local Brownie pack and to a Health Care Company; the Company is looking for other opportunities to find other outlets for these containers (approximate dimensions are 110mm dia by 150mm high, with a screw top).  Hydraulic oil from the machines is put through an ultra fine filter process to allow the oil to be re-used.  The award also recognises the investment in modern production plant which reduces the Company’s carbon footprint.

Three New Arburg Golden Edition Machines

As part of our continuing machine replacement programme, we have taken delivery of three more ARBURG moulding machines between 19 July 2010 and 19 October 2010.  The machines were two at 50 tonnes and one at 100 tonnes, and were in part funded with support from The Carbon Trust, and we acknowledge their support in this project.  We have now added nine Golden Edition ARBURG machines over the last five years, and these will all contribute to a reduction in our carbon output.

Two More New Arburg Golden Edition Machines

In December 2008 we took delivery of a further two ARBURG Golden Edition machines as part of our long term machine replacement programme. These are both 50 tonne machines. We were able to benefit from funding support from the Carbon Trust and acknowledge their support in the project. We are very conscious of the need to work towards the efficient use of energy and to reduce our carbon output. This brings to six the number of new ARBURG machines introduced over the last three years. We hope to make further changes in our machine replacement programme during 2009.
